Education in Pakistan:
Pakistan is one of developing countries in the world. The standard
of education in Pakistan is not as developed countries of world. In Pakistan
the system of education in managed by ministry of Education. It is federal
system of the government. There are five provinces in Pakistan. Each province
has its own ministry of education. It is the responsibility of each province to
overlook education system in the province. Federal government passes the budget
for education. Then this budget is distributed in each province of country. For
the development of higher education, there is a system which is termed as
higher education system. It is the system which is responsible for all
activities of higher education in the country. According to the constitution
for education in Pakistan it is the duty of state to provide all facilities to
its children to get education and in free and proper way. Government is
responsible to provide standard education to its children within country. So it
becomes the combine responsibility of federal as well provincial government to
provide education to their children in country and in their provinces.
Provincial government is more responsible in this regard.
Education system in Pakistan is divided into different stages. First stage of education is primary stage in
which children usually from 3 to 10 years of age take part in this stage. It
starts from class playgroup to class five. Then there comes the stage of middle
level. In this stage children from 11 to 13 years of age take part. Their
classes are from 6 to 8 grades. After this stage of secondary School
Certificate comes which is normally termed as metric level. Children usually
from 14 to 16 years of age take part in this stage. Then there comes stages of
intermediate and graduation level comes. After the graduation level master
level arrived. It is the end of formal education. Then there come higher level
of education which included M.Phil and Phd level of education. This is how
education in Pakistan passes through different stages.
Literacy rate in Pakistan:
Literacy rate in Pakistan is not much satisfactory. There is lot to
be in the field of education in Pakistan. Literacy rate is different in
different parts of the country. The highest rate of literacy is in Islamabad.
The rate of education in Islamabad is about 96%. On the other hand there is
extreme decline in other parts of country like Kohlu Distric which has rate of
28% according to survey in Pakistan. It is quite shocking in this perspective.
The variation in literacy rate is due to different mentality of people living in
different parts of country.
Problems of Education in Pakistan:
Problems of education in Pakistan are very severe. These problems
are due to different reasons in country. First and major problem is of children
laboring. In this condition children are sent on work from their parents in
order to earn their livelihood. This kind of problem usually comes due to poor
economic conditions within country.
There is another problem which is mentality of people. That’s why
education in Pakistan is suffering due to this problem. In most parts of the
country it is not considered good thing of girls to get education. People
prefer to sit girls in home rather than going to school. But the good thing is
that this problem is gradually but steadily losing its roots in country.
The other issue is of standard education in Pakistan. In most parts
of country the standard of education of government schools is not good in fact
it is very poor. It is due to lack of interest of government in the field of
education in Pakistan.
Other issue which is commonly seen in Pakistan is of standard of
teachers within country. If we talk about specially government schools teachers
they are mostly not trained and show lack of interest in their job.
The other issue is of lack of basic facilities in schools. Most of
the schools even don’t have basic facilities which are considered necessary in
every school. This is another issue due to which education in Pakistan is not
as high standard as it should be.
Ghost schools are another serious concern in Pakistan. These are
those schools which are registered in documentation but physically they do not
exist in country. It is seen in different parts of country and education in
Pakistan is suffering from this problem too.
Solutions of problems for education system in Pakistan:
These problems can only be handled by the combine effort of
government and people of country. Government should make such policies through
which they can improve the standard of education in Pakistan. The planning
should be made in such a way that more and more people should attract towards
education and they prefer to send their children to schools rather than on
work. This can only be done by strong economic conditions in country.
Governments should raise the standard of living of people in each part of
country equally.
Standard of education in Pakistan must be equal in every government
school. Teacher should be well trained and they should show interest in their
job in order to truly serve the country rather sitting and wasting time of
children.
The system of monitoring should be very strict in each part of
country if anyone is find opposing the policy of government he or she should
face strict punishment.
These are some of solutions and by acting upon these suggestions we
can improve standard of education in Pakistan.
