Valentine Day and Islamic Point of View:
Now days
Valentine day has become a day of conveying message of love to each other. Each
year on the 14th of February Valentine day is celebrated in almost
every part of the world. Message of love is prevailed by people of all ages
especially by young ones. Different type of ways is adopted to convey the
message of love. The basic and renowned symbol which is mostly used by majority
of people is red flower. Red flower is symbol of love with full affection to
someone special. It is observed that Valentine day has become like a festivity.
There is seen huge amount of increment in the economical growth of the world
market. Business men take it granted as great economic activity for their
business. On this day chocolates, candies, Valentine day printed card and red
flower sale goes to sky which become a great source of income for the
shopkeepers.
If we
talk about Islamic point and the day celebration of Valentine then it should be
very clear about place of love in Islam. One thing is to be noted that Islam is
not against the love and practice of love among human beings. Only thing which
according to Islamic point of view is essential is the way of expressing the
feeling of love with each other. Islam is not against the love. Islam is the
only religion of world which pays more attention to love more than any other religion
of world. Love is not specific to a single day as Valentine’s Day. The ways
which are mostly adopted to convey message of love are not acceptable at all in
Islam. You can always express your love and respect with mother, father, brother,
sister, brother and to your friend. Islam promotes the teaching of humanity and
love.
It is
commonly seen that on Valentine day young boys and girls convey the message of
love to each other which is not in notice of their parents. They secretly meet
with each other on this day and celebrate the day on the name of Valentine day.
All this activity which is done on the name of Valentine day is totally against
the teaching of Islam. On Valentine day vulgarity can be seen clearly in our
society.
Valentine
day is not an Islamic festival. It is the day which originates from pagan Romans.
Islam has its own festivals which are allowed to be celebrated by the Muslims
like Eed but Valentine day only just promotes vulgarity in our society. The way
Valentine day is entering in our society it will certainly ruin our society. The
day is not acceptable at all in our society. The meaning which was taken for
love after the Christians revitalized is love outside the boundaries of marriage.
With the passage of time it increases the vulgarity and immorality in the
society. It is the need of time to abolish this sin from our society before it
covers the whole society and become disease like cancer. All the activity which
is practiced on the day of Valentine results in sin with wastage of time and
money as well. Muslims should not be part of such activities or festivals which
take them to sinful life.
Festivals
are ones through which any nation is recognized. Festivals demonstrate or show
the way of life of any nation. We the Muslims have our own festivals which are
defined in our religion. Religion can be distinguished by the ways of their
festivals.
According
to our Prophet Muhammad (PBU) Hadis Explanation “There is ‘Eed for every nation
and this is our ‘Eed”.
It means
we have our own festivals and we do not need to be part of any other festivals
of non Muslims.
It is
very visible from the history of Valentine day that it started from the Pagan Romans.
It clearly means that it is festival of Christians and not of Muslims.
Intimation
to some is belonging to them. This means if we intimate the Christians in their
festivals we are one of them.
So what
we can conclude from this discussion not to express feeling of love to anyone. The
answer to the question is no according to teaching of Islam.
In Islam
there is no limit of love between husband and wife. Love between husband and
wife is not subjected to only one day like Valentine day. They can love each
other throughout their life till death. Islam is the only religion of world
which promotes love more than any religion but with the legitimate way of
Nikkah for woman and man.
Maasha Allah. This is a very wonderful article on the reality of valentine day in Islam. May Allah bless you.
